So, What Actually Is Aoud?

Aoud is one of those fragrance ingredients you’ve probably heard of, but what actually is it? Also known as agarwood, Aoud comes from the resinous heartwood of certain Aquilaria trees. When the tree is damaged, it produces a rich, fragrant resin, slowly transforming the wood into the dark, aromatic material we know as Aoud. The result is a complex scent that can be woody, smoky, earthy, warm, sweet or slightly leathery, depending on where it comes from and how it’s extracted. 

So why do we use Aoud in our perfume? Quite simply, it adds depth. It can make a fragrance feel warmer, richer and more intense, while giving other notes more character. It’s one of those ingredients that can completely change the mood of a fragrance and is loved for the way it develops and lingers on the skin. We love it!!!
